Does your vision of a perfect home constantly differ from reality? Would you like to buy cute curtains and pillows that match? Or you want your bowls and tablecloths to be in harmony? It all looks so good in your head, but there is never enough money to buy all these things. They are too expensive to buy and there are too many things you need in order for everything to fit in. The truth is, unless you are filthy rich, you’ll never be able to buy all these tiny details that make your home complete. Luckily, there is something you can do. You can make most of these things yourself, with just a bit of money and a bit more effort. Here are some Do it Yourself Paint Ideas.
If you have many flowerpots in your home, painting them is a great way to make your home come alive. You can paint stripes in colours that match your drapes or sofa, or you can pick a new colour and open the place up a bit. It’s very simple and anyone can do it! If you don’t want to paint them, you can buy stickers with all kinds of motives and put them on your pots, but I prefer painting on my own, because it allows me to have a completely original, customized design.
Tables and Chairs:
I personally tried this one and the results are amazing! I always hated how my chairs and tables are so old, dingy and full of scratches. I took some emery and smoothed out the legs of my chairs and tables and then painted them over. After that, I painted some flowers over them because I wanted them to look cheerful. Of course, you can paint anything you like. You will get your hands dirty, but after using some good quality acetone to take down the paint, they’ll be as good as new, and you’ll have brand new furniture to show off.
There’s absolutely no need for you to buy expensive bowls with cute designs you like so much. Just buy regular bowls and paint them yourself! In this case, it’s best to use paint because bowls are often in contact with water and other liquids, so stickers are not a good idea. You can make any pattern you like, and you can always have a full set, no matter how many bowls you break!
Wardrobes and Cupboards:
Transform your old cupboards or wardrobes into new ones with the help of some paint. You can paint them white and then choose a different colour for the edges and knobs. You can even use decoupage for your knobs – this would be a great touch to your new old cupboard. You can do this in your kitchen, bedroom or living room. Choose a theme and just go for it!
Floors and Staircases:
If you want to take it to the next level, think about repainting the floors. This is a good idea if you don’t have carpets in your home and a high percentage of your floor is visible. You don’t need to repaint the entire floor, or staircase. Paint stripes, or certain symbols or patterns on your floor. It is a bold move, but with a bit of creativity and a sense of style you can pull it off. You can also do this with your walls, or the ceiling. Just be careful not to get too carried away. Keep it subtle – don’t exaggerate.
Think about the aforementioned tips. I’m much happier since I started following them. It’s not just about saving money and still getting what you wanted. It is also about expressing yourself creatively and feeling satisfied with your accomplishments. If you are concerned about whether or not you’ll be able to do it on your own, don’t worry. In the modern era we live in, you can rely on an infinite number of tutorials you can find online. The only thing you need to be careful about is choosing the paint that is suitable for the surface you’d like to use it on and you can check this at any store that sells paint!
